Linen, cotton and linen-cotton sarees: what to check
Linen, cotton and linen-cotton blends should be compared using the individual composition and care instructions. A blend name does not tell you its percentages or exact feel.
Start with the stated composition
Look for an explicit fibre description. If a product is labelled linen-cotton but the blend percentages are missing, ask before ordering when the ratio matters to you. A product title is useful for discovery, while the specification is the place for precise material information.
Do not judge texture only from a model photograph. A close-up can show the surface, and a full drape can show how the pleats and pallu sit. Neither is a direct measurement of softness, so ask for advice when you are unfamiliar with the fabric.
Think about how you will wear it
For regular use, consider your daily routine, the venue and your preferred draping style. Compare pieces you can imagine wearing with the blouses and footwear already in your wardrobe. Comfort is personal; category names cannot settle it for every wearer.
When choosing between two pieces, ask which has a softer fall or a more structured drape if that is not evident from their details. Request a video of the specific product when one is available, rather than treating any collection film as proof of its behaviour.
Check care, blouse and complete cost
Follow the care instructions for the particular saree. Do not assume a linen or cotton label permits the same wash method across the collection. If instructions are unclear, contact the team before the first wash rather than experimenting with an expensive piece.
Confirm whether unstitched blouse fabric is included. Factor stitching and delivery into your budget, and check whether the piece is available or made to order. An everyday saree can still take time to prepare and tailor before it is ready to wear.
Questions, answered
What percentage of linen is in a linen-cotton saree?
The ratio depends on the product. Ask for the composition if the listing does not give percentages.
